WHY WE START WITH THE FABRIC
SOMEA begins with the material.
Our signature fabric is made primarily from TENCEL™ Lyocell, a cellulosic fiber derived from the wood pulp of sustainably sourced eucalyptus trees, paired with next-generation bio-based stretch derived from sugarcane.
The result is an exceptionally soft, breathable performance fabric designed to move with the body.
Because better materials shouldn't mean compromising performance.

FROM EUCALYPTUS TO ACTIVEWEAR.
TENCEL™ Lyocell is a cellulosic fiber derived from wood pulp, including eucalyptus, sourced from controlled or certified origins.
Its botanical origin is only part of why we chose it.
TENCEL™ fibers are produced using a closed-loop process that recovers more than 99.8% of the solvent used during production, allowing it to be used again rather than discarded.
But for us, sustainability also has to perform.
TENCEL™ Lyocell has an exceptionally smooth, soft feel against the skin while its moisture-management properties help absorb and release moisture to support comfort through movement.

We wanted ours to come from a more considered source.
SOMEA uses HYOSUNG regen™ BIO Spandex, a next-generation stretch fiber incorporating bio-based raw materials derived from renewable sugarcane.
It gives our fabric the flexibility, recovery and support needed to move with the body while bringing renewable, bio-derived inputs into one of the most performance-critical components of the garment.
The result is a fabric designed to stretch, sculpt and recover through movement.

SOMEA garments are made in northern Portugal by a vertically integrated textile manufacturer selected for its craftsmanship, technical expertise and approach to responsible production.
Keeping multiple stages of production within an integrated manufacturing system allows for greater consideration throughout the process — from development to the finished garment.

Our collection incorporates considered details including natural dyes and water-based rubber applications, extending our material philosophy beyond the fabric itself.
We chose Portugal intentionally, pairing generations of textile craftsmanship with the technical capabilities required to create performance garments to our standards.
